The Nintendo Switch port of Final Fantasy IX is a great way to play through the classic JRPG, but ever since launch it has been plagued by an issue that made it difficult to enjoy the superb music compositions by Nobuo Uematsu. Every time you entered a battle or Tetra Master match the music would change, which is normal, but once you returned to the overworld or town, its associated music would have reset to the very beginning.
Thankfully Square Enix noted the problem, and the game is finally fixed up on Nintendo’s console.
We've released patches for the #NintendoSwitch & #Android versions of #FinalFantasy IX to correct an issue that caused background music to restart after every battle & Tetra Master match.
We're also working to patch the #iOS, #Xbox One, #Windows 10 & #Steam versions of the game. pic.twitter.com/IZtSX1aeuq

Let’s hope Final Fantasy VIII Remastered manages to avoid the issue entirely!
