Throughout the 20++ years of Pokémon, each generation has introduced us to a new cast of characters. Friends, rivals, family, and random strangers who like comfy shorts and want to battle have been a key part in each game’s story. Naturally fans have grown attached; coupled with those characters fleshed out even further in the anime and manga, and it’s understandable that there is a desire for a Trainer-focused Pokémon game.

Pokémon Masters has decided to take on the challenge.

This is a mobile game, which instantly summons gacha game dread. Beyond a statement and a short, short trailer of what we can expect, that’s it. We don’t have any confirmation if the game will be free-to-play, cost x-amount of money upfront, or how many app-in purchase sets will be thrown in. It’s a mystery.

For now, here’s the official description of the game from Pokémon.com:

“A new Pokémon mobile game called Pokémon Masters is on the way for iOS and Android devices from The Pokémon Company and DeNA. Pokémon Masters lets players experience a new type of Pokémon battling on the go, and it features many famous Pokémon Trainers from the long history of Pokémon video games. Gameplay has been optimized for smart devices, allowing anyone to casually pick it up and play.

Pokémon Masters is scheduled to launch in 2019. Fans can expect more details about this new mobile game in June!”

Thankfully, June is almost here and filled with plenty of gaming events and opportunities to share more about the game, or even release it to the world.
