While the Star Ocean series got its start on the Super Nintendo like so many other JRPGs, it has been absent from Nintendo’s platforms for quite some time – until now.
Square Enix has announced that the Star Ocean: First Departure R will be heading to Switch, though there are no more specifics than that.

The game shares its subtitle with the PSP remake of the same name, with an added R, so it’s most likely based on that version, though it’s worth noting that art style has seen an update. We’ll be sure to bring you more details as they come in.
