It was bound to happen, really. Detective Pikachu is about to hit the big screen this weekend, and Niantic and The Pokémon Company have announced a collaboration event with Pokémon GO.

From Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at 1 p.m. PDT to Friday, May 17, 2019, at 1 p.m. PDT, Pikachu wearing the iconic hat will start photobombing your snapshots, and if it does, you’ll be able to catch it! Not only that but Bulbasaur, Psyduck, Jigglypuff, Aipom, and Snubble will appear more frequently, with the chance of shiny Aipom increasing too. Every wild catch over the event period will also net you double the XP.

There’ll be movie-themed Raid battles too, plus some special Field Research goals.

Finally, the style shop will add a detective hat + Pika ears as well as a t-shirt featuring the movie’s logo.

The first half of May is definitely shaping up to be filled with Pokémania!
