Giving players another reason to experiment with the Pokémon GO’s new AR feature, Niantic has issued a photo challenge. We covered the photo themes that Trainers could explore and the prizes they could earn upon winning when the event was first announced.
The first challenge, centered around the theme of Buddy Pokémon, came to a close on April 24th. Today, on social media channels for the official Pokémon GO account, three winners have been announced!
Starting with the runners-up, growlithegirl with her Totodile and reyjohnino with his Meditite received official congrats from the PGO Twitter page. The execution of showing off the two Pokémons’ types and personalities while playing off their Trainers and the environments nearly secured them the grand prize. Both Trainers will receive a “Poké Stop featuring their winning photo that will remain no less than three months.”
After seeing some amazing #GOsnapshot entries, we’re happy to announce the two runners-up for our #BuddyChallenge! 🏆 Congrats, Trainers! These amazing AR photos are going to look amazing on your own personalized PokéStops! pic.twitter.com/RPcO4qU0zL

The grand prize winner receives a special Poké Stop, and they’ll also be “whisked away with travel and tickets to a 2019 Pokémon GO Fest of their choice” — that honor goes to risokichi and her Blissey. Exploring a local park at the tail-end of the cherry blossom season? Too cute and it sums up the thrill of exploring the world of Pokémon GO for the first time!

The next challenge, the Habitat Challenge, is still accepting submissions until May 8th. After that, the last challenge — the Go Create Challenge — will be active from May 13th – 22nd.
Congrats to the winners of the Buddy Challenge, and good luck to all the Trainers competing in the next two!
