Spring is almost here — if you reside in the northern hemisphere that is. While autumn is also due for the southern hemisphere, this change of seasons is celebrated on the same day. Sounds like a perfect time to start a new Pokémon GO event, right?

Beginning on March 19th at 1:00 p.m. PT | 4:00 p.m. ET, Grass-type Pokémon will spring up and spawn more often in the wild and in raids. There’s more than just nature to celebrate: the equinox is when the sun and moon are present for an equal amount of time. It’s a good time to switch up a celestial pair of Pokémon then! “Lunatone and Solrock will switch hemispheres at the start of the event in celebration of the equinox! These Pokémon will stay in their new hemispheres after the event.”

For more details, Niantic posted the following on Pokémon GO’s blog:

Raids

  • Grass-type Pokémon will be available to challenge in raids.

Field Research

  • Limited-time Grass-type Pokémon Field Research will be available during this event.

Move[s]

New moves will be permanently added to the game.

  • Acid Spray: Arbok, Victreebel, Tentacruel, Muk, Alolan Muk, Quagsire, Qwilfish, Octillery, and Swalot.
  • Leaf Tornado: Victreebel, and Shiftry.

The event will end on March 26th at 1:00 p.m. PT | 4:00 p.m. ET, which means you have a week to hunt down any special Pokémon that will appear. Who will have new Shiny forms running around and will this be the perfect time for Leafeon to appear? Here’s hoping so!
