Anyone have that friend who makes everything a joke (and not always a good one either)? Or how about the more strait-laced one who tries to keep them in line, even if they don’t realize how funny their frustration is? Congratulations, you’ve got the workings of a manzai duo on your hands, and Japan’s latest Splatfest is asking players where on that spectrum they fall.
On the orange half we’ve got the boke, those who bring the laughs with how openly humorous (and maybe even outright stupid) they can be. In blue we’ve got tsukkomi, those who could use a little loosening up. They manage to play off their partner no matter how different they are.
This theme seems to be the “least likely to be localized Splatfest” in my book, due to how much wordplay is involved. Even so, that art speaks for itself plenty!
