Lace up your gunboots and get ready to dive into the unknown, because beloved vertical-scrolling roguelike Downwell is coming to the Switch quite soon.

Developed almost singlehandedly by Ojiro “Moppin” Fumoto (who recently left Nintendo after working there for a year) back in 2015, the game follows a “curious man” named Welltaro who traverses a monster-infested well. The game’s color scheme is trichromatic, consisting of only black, white, and red, giving it a distinct visual flair. Like many roguelikes, levels are procedurally generated, and you go back to the beginning every time you die.

The game received great acclaim when it came out on mobile and PlayStation devices, so we have only high hopes when Downwell releases at the end of this month.
