When Ryu was first announced for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS his stage was instantly familiar. Even though the platforming is unique, this was somehow a perfect way to shout out not just his Street Fighter II stage, but even the world warrior’s home turf in Street Fighter III. Now it’s made the jump from DLC to a member of the stage select from the get go in Ultimate.
In Super #SmashBros. Ultimate, the Suzaku Castle stage comes with music tracks for 16 #StreetFighter characters. When the clock starts running out or if your stock goes down to one, the music may get more intense! pic.twitter.com/yVvWvF69XT

The breakable signs and changing music are back as fitting shoutouts to SFII, but an interesting detail’s come to light via the Smash Blog. According to today’s post for the stage, it’ll play host to music for 16 characters total. It hosted Ryu and Ken’s last time around, and from older Blog posts we know both Vega and Guile are getting new theme arrangements.
Odds are the other 12 will be the remaining cast of Street Fighter II, including the four new challengers from Super Street Fighter II. At least I hope so, especially if that lets me fight it out to Balrog, Dhalsim, and T. Hawk’s themes. We’ll just have to wait it out til round one kicks off on December 7th to know for sure.
