The second season of the animated Castlevania series recently hit Netflix, garnering another round of success following the strong premier of the first. And as a result, series producer Adi Shankar appears to be getting an even bigger shot, as he’s in talks with “an iconic Japanese gaming company” to produce a TV adaptation for an “iconic video game series” — which TheWrap reports is The Legend of Zelda.

Shankar announced his work on a new series on Instagram, along with the announcement of an announcement of the series’ identity on November 16th at 1 p.m. When reached out to, Nintendo declined to comment.

Given Shankar’s phrasing, the project is for a series bigger than Castlevania, which I would say with some confidence is in the top 20 (if not top ten) most iconic gaming franchises out of Japan. So while there are a couple of different possibilities to be sure, Zelda certainly seems like a good fit.

What do you think of an animated The Legend of Zelda series? Which game (if any) would you like to see it based upon? Let us know on Twitter and in the comments.
