Former US President and pretty good jokester Barack Obama has been out of the focal range of the news cycle in recent years, mostly because there’s been… uh, other matters to focus on. But ol’ Barry O. made a splash yesterday when, in a video urging people to vote come this November 6th, he — in response to the excuse of “I don’t care about politics” — stated: “Look, I don’t care about Pokémon, but that doesn’t mean it won’t keep on coming back.” This set off shockwaves across the web as people pretended to be appalled that the former president would dare not particularly care about a franchise that premiered when he was 34 years old.

Okay, first of all — the second part of his statement is way more real than it has any right to be. Second: give the guy a break. Did you see some of the scandals people tried to stick on him during his administration? He was criticized for eating Dijon Mustard, for heaven’s’ sake. He deserves better than to be shellacked for not having much opinion about a 20 year running monster collection franchise.

Oh well. At least we can all rest easy in the knowledge that Diamond Joe Biden is assuredly a devout fan of the franchise, even though he’s never said a word about it.

(Also, voting is important. Make sure you’re registered and go out on November 6th!)
