Dragalia Lost is just over a week away, and Nintendo’s promoting the game enough that it hasn’t quite faded from my mind. Its own video presentation didn’t exactly win me over beyond surface level curiosity, but now a new pair of videos are here to teach potential players about its world’s past.

Themes of humanity bonding with dragons, the threat of technology on the natural order, and lone paragons uniting to quell the threat of evil are all here. Still, this kind of elaboration is more than what I ever expected, and it could be interesting to see how it meshes with the game itself. The dragon allies in the second video (almost) all showed up during the debut presentation last month, so there’s always those threads to link back to these videos, not to mention your playable character being a descendant of these historical figures.

Even if some of the themes and ideas do seem routine, the sketch-like art style is a nice touch. Still, I applaud Nintendo for at least trying to sell this game on its world and lore instead of just throwing cute collectible characters our way. Let us know how you’re feeling on Dragalia Lost yourself after checking these out, and keep an eye out for more leading into its September 27th launch.
