While everyone was clamoring for Breath of the Wild on launch day, I was trying to find out how to download the then Japan-only Puyo Puyo Tetris demo. I’ve made it no secret that I adore Sega’s competitive falling block (blob?) puzzler, with its intense matches and colorful cast of characters. PuyoTet is one of my favorite Switch games, and now it looks like its sales on various platforms may have paid off for the series.

Revealed via a South Korean ratings board (akin to the ESRB) listing, what translates to Puyo Puyo eSports may have been revealed. As is, it’s slated for the Nintendo Switch, as well as the PlayStation 4, lining up with PuyoTet’s own initial US release platforms. Whatever this ends up potentially being, I’m all for more Puyo Puyo in my life, and for now, you can look forward to some kind of official word from Sega.

When he isn’t writing for Nintendo Wire, Ricky’s anticipating the next Kirby, Fire Emblem, or if the stars ever align, Mother 3 to be released. Till then he’ll have the warm comfort of Super Smash Bros. to keep him going.
