It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood, as all our combined mayoral efforts have taken Animal Crossing: New Leaf to new heights. Nintendo’s Japanese site has updated its top selling software listings, showing that the latest full game in the series has reached 11.78 million copies sold. That alone’s enough dosh to make even Tom Nook grin, but it’s hardly the best news here for fans of the 3DS must-have.

Previously, the game’s first foray into handheld territory, Animal Crossing: Wild World, was resting at the top spot with nearly 12 million sold itself. Checking the DS software listing paints that exact figure at 11.75 million as of March this year, which is now just below its more modern counterpart’s sales. It may be nearly a six year-old game at this point, but there’s just no stopping New Leaf!
