While many Monster Hunter fans are eagerly anticipating the launch of Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate this August, it does come a few months after Monster Hunter World shook-up the franchise’s formula in some major ways over on other consoles. If you were hoping it would be the next game to be ported to Nintendo’s latest system, you’re sadly out of luck.

A Capcom representative at the company’s latest shareholder meeting fielded a question about a possible port and got this response, translated by Twitter users cvxfreak and DomsPlaying.

“Regarding MH World, they said that it “can’t be done on Switch,” so it’s futile to ask for a port. But, it appears instead that Capcom will proceed with MH made especially for Switch.”

Given the significant graphical leap that was Monster Hunter World it does make some sense that the game can’t be ported, but it’ll be interesting to see if these future games carry over the various quality-of-life improvements World made.

We’ll be sure to bring you more on the world of Monster Hunter as it’s unveiled.
