Even if we’re all Nintendo fans here, we’re about gaming together and having as great a time as possible with everyone. Nintendo seems to feel the same, if the company’s newest video is any indication. Promoting both the Switch and Xbox One versions of Minecraft, with full and equal Nintendo and Microsoft branding, it’s a clear statement on the value of cross-play.

It isn’t the only instance though, with Rocket League allowing the same, and most recently Fortnite joining in the cross-play fun. PC and Mac are in the mix for these as well, letting people share their fun and creativity no matter where they play.

Unless you have a PlayStation.

Sony’s been getting a lot of backlash for not allowing these features, and while that’s for the company to decide, it’s clear and telling what fans want. At this point, it feels less like them taking their ball and going home and more like they’re just not invited.

With Nintendo now in on the action, backlash after certain E3 announcements, and this new statement actively promoting the feature, it’s time to see just what kind of greatness awaits Sony when they’re not onboard with Play in the first place.
