Splatoon 2 Splatfest art has become a genre unto itself, showcasing Pearl and Marina themed to the latest dispute. This time, it’s a showdown between two styles of Nikes: the latest model or the most popular. We’ve seen this kinda sponsored splatting before, but rarely does it lend itself to something so fitting for Inkling culture as we know it. After all, it’s all about having the freshest style and these two idols have that in spades:

Once again, I have to give it to my girl Pearl though. Setting aside how sleek that jet black crown is, the color combination of turquoise, white, and black just flows better to my taste. Marina’s lookin’ good too, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes you just gotta go against what everybody’s into to make a statement and start up a new trend.
The Nike Splatfest kicks off this weekend in Japan, though with how sponsored ‘fests like this have gone, this might be another one that won’t end up localized. Still, stay tuned for the results to settle the score.
