Like your first kiss, we Nintendo fans will always remember the air of anticipation surrounding the Nintendo Switch launch. While a lot of the hype can be attributed to getting lost in adventure with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s expansive world, the prospect of being able to play full console titles on the go was genuinely exciting. Couple that with new ways to play courtesy of detachable Joy-Cons and a strong supporting lineup of games like Shovel Knight, Snipperclips, and Super Bomberman R, and it was clear Nintendo finally found a recipe for success we could all get behind.
So whether you stood in line at your local retailer for hours on end or camped out all day on the front porch for the mailman’s sweet embrace, we want to hear your Nintendo Switch launch story! It can be photos, videos, text messages, a poem – any fond feelings or memories you feel like sharing, really. Here’s mine to get those juices flowing:
After avoiding team Slack messages of everyone @NinWire playing through Zelda all day, UPS finally came through at 8pm. I was so happy that I hugged the guy. pic.twitter.com/DFI6CKk5FX

Yesterday we asked the Nintendo Wire community to share their favorite launch day memories as well. Here’s a few of our favorites:
@NintendoCadeEVY and I joined the exciting #NintendoSwitch MIDNIGHT LAUNCH at @NintendoNYC Store, waiting in line over 30 hours to get our hands on the system. We were the 56th on line among hundreds of fans! We vlogged our adventure! It was MEMORABLE!

Here are the four pics I took on launch day! 1) Waiting outside the store I work at too early (9.5 hours before opening). 2) A #PokémonGO AR picture with my Switch ticket. 3) A Switch-themed watchface (courtesy of r/NintendoSwitch) 7 minutes before opening. 4) Got the Switch! pic.twitter.com/MOebcQUevD

Around 1 a.m., I realized Amazon had delayed my pre-order two days, so I headed straight to @BestBuy. I camped out in their parking lot and was able to snag one! Bonus: I was able to get the Amazon Switch to a friend in need. 😀 pic.twitter.com/deTjKFMoeL

I left work early that day because I couldn't contain my hype. Still 10 hours before launch and I sat at home. Home wasn't working so I just camped in the @GameStop parking lot for hours. Fast forward to 12:01 am and I proceeded to scream/ugly cry for 40 solid minutes pic.twitter.com/jvQGnUBakJ

The longest day of work ever, but coming home to the Switch and BOTW haul on release day was extremely hype, to say the least. First console I ever preordered and bought for myself! pic.twitter.com/ITeJztdx6M

Leave a CommentI call it, "Postmodern Midnight Launch". It captures what we leave behind after attaining our Nintendo Switch and/or a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. pic.twitter.com/EyOS6LV1Ek
