A talk show celebrating the 10th anniversary of Etrian Odyssey took place in Japan yesterday, and series director Shigeo Komori teased info about the game’s next entry, which will be revealed sometime in the spring.

The game will be for the 3DS, but will not be a remake/Untold version of Etrian Odyssey 3. It was described as a “true culmination” of the series that will feature even more extensive map drawing than before (“so much players will dislike it”) and also feature “surprising content.” While most of this is rather vague, given that this is essentially an announcement of an announcement it seemed unlikely that we’d get more concrete information.

Etrian Odyssey V released earlier this year in North America, and Etrian Mystery Dungeon 2 launched in Japan this August. There’s also the Persona-flavored spinoff Persona Q 2 coming soon. Whether or not this new Etrian game is the last for 3DS remains to be seen. Stay wired for updates on the game when they get revealed sometime in the coming months.
