Making up fake video games for promotional purposes is nothing new — just look at Sega’s 8-Bit Bayonetta from earlier this year — but the latest mockup from Atlus knocks it out of the park. In the lead up to the Japanese launch of Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux, the company has released a new trailer that features a Metroidvania starring the franchise’s iconic “Jack” demons in the latter half…

 

 

Needless to say, it’d be awesome to see this game come to fruition, but the trailer makes it clear it’s fake. That said, it’s hard not to speculate that it is a real game, given the amount of polish on show. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux is a 3DS remake of the original DS title from 2009, with various visual updates, a new ending and a new character. It’ll release in Japan on October 26th and in the West next year.
