We’re less than two months away from Super Mario Odyssey’s release! Despite how many days we have left to cross out on our calendars, there’s still quite a great deal of content that we haven’t seen yet. Luckily Japan’s Super Mario Odyssey Twitter account is continuing to post content daily.
Today’s tweet focuses on the “Hip Drop Jump” which will probably be known as the Ground Pound Jump in English. Mario is showing of this new move in the Luncheon Kingdom and from this little GIF it’s a given that the speed running community will be utilizing this move in crafting the perfect run.
「ヒップドロップジャンプ」です。

Yesterday we were introduced to the Magmato, one of the enemies in the Luncheon Kingdom. Part lava, part tomato this baddie can spew lava around, burning your health away. Ouch. Given that this baddie’s name is on the Super Mario Odyssey map, there’s a good chance that you’ll come across a Magmato wearing a hat and happens to have a mustache and peculiar blue eyes.
おはようございます!
これはバブル。ではなく、ボルボーノ地方に多く生息する新キャラクター「トマポン」です。踏むと中のマグマが広がるので、大変キケンです! pic.twitter.com/DNlzagJAra— スーパーマリオ オデッセイ (@mario_odysseyJP) September 3, 2017
Lastly, the Mario’s Picross homage that is Explorer Mario got some love this week. Not only is there a sprite animation of him trudging along but he’s also the star of September’s mobile wallpaper. There are two versions – one comes with a calendar while the other is full art for your fangirl and fanboy pleasure.
今日から9月ですね。
