I’d been interested in Sonic Mania since its announcement over a year ago, but the hype really picked up the pace once the animated pre-order trailer dropped. The art style and music, courtesy of Tyson Hesse and Hyper Potions respectively, gave the game a new identity in my mind. We already knew there’d be another animation like it courtesy of the San Diego Comic Con Sonic Mania panel, but just five days before release it’s been uploaded for your repeat viewing pleasure.
In full color and giving Tails and Knuckles some time in the spotlight this time around, it’s got a celebratory vibe and a ton of personality. You also get a new, albeit still mostly obscured, look at the Hard Boiled Heavies. It won’t be long til we learn more about them and see everything the game has to offer when it launches next week.
