That didn’t take long! Just a few days ago Sega officially confirmed it would be ceasing its publishing partnership with Archie for comics based on Sonic the Hedgehog. Now, via the same Sonic Twitter account, a new collaboration with IDW Publishing has been announced.

IDW is well known at this point for its many licensed comic books, from 24 to the X-Files. It’s also no stranger to longer-running series, such as its Doctor Who tie-ins, and its own IP, like Yakuza Demon Killers.
It’s hard to say whether or not Sonic’s Archie friends will make the leap over or even if it’ll be a continuation of that canon at all. Either way, we’ll be sure to find out more as we approach 2018.
