After over a year of waiting Pokémon GO will finally be getting Legendary Pokémon, starting July 22nd and coinciding with Pokémon GO Fest in Chicago’s Grant Park. Check out the first trailer:

Thanks to Niantic’s blog we get a few more details. The Legendaries have a chance of appearing as eggs at Gyms. Once it hatches and if you manage to team up and defeat the Legendary Raid Boss, you might even have the chance to catch it and use it yourself in future battles. That said, you can’t leave them behind to defend gyms.

The action in Grant Park will kick off once players around the world have caught enough Pokémon in a certain time frame, and the ensuing battle will be live streamed via Twitch and YouTube.

We’ll be sure to bring more news as it happens.

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
