Over the weekend we reported on the surprise appearance of a “Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga DX” file hidden within Nintendo’s eShop servers. Now the same source that discovered that info, @SciresM on Twitter, has released the tiny 3DS menu icon for the game, which you can check out below alongside Ever Oasis’:
Ha, Nintendo finally fixed their leaky metadata server. Might as well post everything I've got. Attached: ML:SSDX, Ever Oasis icons. pic.twitter.com/ZbD8TWHM0q

A few things stand out – the letters on Mario & Luigi’s hats are their typical colors, unlike the original art for the game which had them appear much darker. There’s also the Goomba, whose prominence is a little confusing. The original Superstar Saga only had the iconic Mario foes make a brief appearance early on before the action moved to the Bean Bean Kingdom.
A possible explanation for the latter appears if you look at SciresM’s Paste Bin of every 3DS game listed, where you can spot “Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions” at 4131. This could mean the game contains both a port/remake of Superstar Saga plus something else that focuses on Bowser’s underlings.
We’ll just have to wait and see where this trail is leading. Keep checking back for more updates in the meantime.
