UPDATE: Unfortunately, it appears as though the video below has been removed. We’ll be sure to update this article with a new video if one becomes available.

VR is all the rage right now in video gaming, with plenty of developers trying side projects that utilize the new tech. It’s not strange that Sega would be looking into it, but what is unusual is the property the company is experimenting with — Sonic the Hedgehog.

The Los Angeles based Big Sky VR worked on a rough proof of concept, where the player would apparently solve first person puzzles while Sonic guides them around the world. You can check out the early footage below:

We’ll have to wait and see if this Sonic concept evolves into anything more. If it doesn’t, that just means we have yet another weird side note in the history of the blue blur.

Always excited to see something a little bit different, Tom is ready to report on games of all shapes and sizes, whether they be wonderful or weird (or, better yet, both.) Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
