While not as well known as many other Square Enix luminaries, Takashi Tokita has had his part to play in the development in many of the studio’s biggest games – from directing the likes of Chrono Trigger and Parasite Eve to being heavily involved in the remakes of Final Fantasy III and IV for the DS.
Now, via his Twitter feed, he’s teasing a Switch project…

Translated roughly, he’s saying “Start top-secret mission!”
Now we can only speculate on what Tokita’s working on, though for the past decade he’s mostly been associated with the aforementioned remakes and mobile spin-offs like the Final Fantasy Legends series. He’s most closely linked with Square Enix’s Business Division 9, which is primarily behind mobile games.
This does line up nicely with the statements from Square Enix’s CEO we reported on yesterday, where the studio’s focus on Switch was made clear.
We’ll be sure to bring you the latest as it comes in.
