As part of The Pokémon Company’s continued crusade to suck the money out of all our wallets by making us remember the good ol’ days, the first trailer for Pokémon: I Choose You — a movie recounting the early escapades of Ash and Pikachu — has dropped.
The footage is clearly meant to make Poké die hards reminisce about simpler times, as we see classic moments from the earliest episodes recreated with sparkling new animation: Ash tugging his unwilling electric mouse by a leash, dramatically shielding the critter from a swarm of angry Spearow, and watching Ho-oh fly by in a dazzling orange glow. The allure of the throwback is enough to distract you from the fact that the logo on Ash’s hat is incorrect.
