Amazon has announced its plans for a animated kids’ series based on the action role-playing franchise Costume Quest.

According to the press release published by Amazon, “The show stars four kids facing off against the dark forces lurking in the shadows of their sleepy town of Auburn Pines. To overcome obstacles and achieve their goals, they must learn to unlock and master the magical powers of supernormal costumes — with each costume comes a new set of transformations and powers.”

Behind the scenes, the series’ crew consists of Executive Producer and Story Editor Will McRobb, who previously worked on The Adventures of Pete & Pete, as well as Fred Seibert (The Fairly OddParents) and Kevin Kolde and Eric Woman (Adventure Time).

Costume Quest, developed by Double Fine Studios (known for such games as Psychonauts and Grim Fandango Remastered), launched in 2010 for most platforms other than Nintendo consoles and married the exploration found in adventure games with elements of RPGs.

Its sequel, Costume Quest 2, launched in 2014 for all major consoles — including Wii U.

The cartoon is scheduled to debut sometime in 2018 on Amazon Video.
