With its release coming up fast, Yooka-Laylee has come a long way since its crowdfunded beginnings. While the Wii U version may be cancelled and the Switch version will be missing the game’s launch window for other platforms, there is something the folks over at Playtonic might have up their sleeves for Nintendo fans.

For clarity, this is all unconfirmed and mere speculation, but once you take a look at the image they shared from the official Playtonic Twitter you’ll know what I’m getting at.

This model looks fantastic, with a base that’s all too familiar to Nintendo fans. Again, nothing is confirmed at this time, but this could be the earliest look at a prototype amiibo of this googly-eyed game’s duo.

If this turns out to only be a model, it’s still a fantastic looking piece from the team’s artist. But just in case it turns out to be something more, let us know what you’d like to see from a theoretical Yooka-Laylee amiibo!
