One thing many fans have been asking for from the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is dual audio options – the ability to have the voice acting play in one language while it is subtitled in another. Unfortunately, according to Aonuma himself in an interview with IGN Portugal, it looks like that won’t be an option. While players can change their chosen language in the system settings, this will alter the entire experience, including menus and subtitles. Here’s the full quote:

“In the case of Nintendo Switch, if you change the language of the system, you can change the game to Japanese, but that will change everything to Japanese. Unfortunately, it is not possible to play with English text, for example, and Japanese voices.”

With the March 3rd release date rapidly approaching it seems unlikely this will change before launch, but you never know. We’ll bring you more Breath of the Wild news as it comes in.
