UPDATE: As promised Nintendo has offered more info on its online service via its website, and it’s a doozy.

The handy graph below shows the most important information, but this sentence in particular stands out:

“Subscribers will get to download and play a Nintendo Entertainment System™ (NES) or Super Nintendo Entertainment System™ (Super NES) game (with newly-added online play) for free for a month.”

That’s right, online enabled Virtual Console games will be included with the paid subscription.

The Nintendo Switch will require a paid online service for players to enjoy the amount of features promised. On launch this service will be offered for free, but will become paid later in Fall 2017. This will allow Nintendo to offer more, fuller online features to players.

Look forward to more info, such as pricing and features, as we come closer to the March 3rd release.
