Monster Hunter is a franchise that is no stranger to crossovers, with the latest entry Monster Hunter Generations featuring costumes of everyone from Amaterasu to Strider Hiryu. Now, in Japan’s version of today’s Nintendo 3DS Direct, we’ve got confirmation that the upcoming Monster Hunter Stories will be no different – you’ll be able to dress up as Link!

Not only can you wear the green garb of the legendary hero but players will also be able to dress up the companion character, a Felyne called Nabiru, as Skull Kid, which leads to some pretty bizarre cozy scenes between Link and one of his creepiest foes. Epona will be a ride-able mount too, and one special attack you can perform involves calling down the Triforce itself and working alongside Navi to vanquish foes.

Monster Hunter Stories still has no planned release date in the west, but the anime series was recently confirmed for localization. Here’s hoping we hear more soon.

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
