While Game Freak is best known for its work on the mainline Pokémon series, the studio has made multiple smaller games over the years, from Pulseman on the Sega Mega Drive back in 1994 to 2012’s HarmoKnight on the 3DS eShop. One of their strangest experiments came last year: Tembo the Badass Elephant, a side scrolling platformer published by Sega on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

While most of Game Freak’s work is no doubt currently going towards Pokémon Sun and Moon, they’ve found the time to release another experimental platformer on PC called Giga Wrecker. Check out the launch trailer:

The game is currently unfinished, so it’s being sold for $14.99 under the Early Access banner. They’re encouraging players to leave feedback and give suggestions for future content.

What’s most interesting is that Game Freak alone is publishing the title, which admittedly isn’t too difficult on Steam. Whether or not the game will be published on consoles is another matter, but here’s hoping it manages to make its way to Nintendo platforms once development is completed.

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
