While not much has been revealed about upcoming Nintendo attractions at Universal Studios Japan since they were announced, it would appear that those in the know on the project are quite optimistic about it. Mainichi Shinbun, the head of Universal Studios Japan, has stated that the Mario area at the park will be so successful that it will “exceed” the Harry Potter area located within the same resort.

Shinbun also reaffirmed that other Nintendo IPs are under consideration for the park, and that the area would be done in time for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. While details on the exact plans for the Nintendo attractions are murky at best, it would be quite a feat for them to exceed the popularity of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, which opened two years ago in 2014.

Stay tuned for more park details in the future!
