Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem mobile titles will be free-to-play | Nintendo Wire

Earlier today Japanese mobile game developer DeNA held a press conference to discuss their ongoing plans. Naturally, the company’s collaboration with Nintendo was brought up and as a result we finally have a little bit of information on the next titles to come out of the partnership; Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem.

Both new games have been confirmed by the Wall Street Journal to be free-to-play. Considering almost all of DeNA’s other games use in-app purchases this likely comes as no surprise, but it’s nice to have confirmation.

Only time will tell if the approach will be similar to Miitomo, where most money goes towards cosmetic items and a minigame, or if these payments will be more integral to the overall game experience. We’ll be sure to bring you more news as it develops!

Always excited to see something a little bit different, Tom is ready to report on games of all shapes and sizes, whether they be wonderful or weird (or, better yet, both.) Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
