Great news for Pokémon fans – the Virtual Console re-releases of the original Game Boy titles have done incredibly well, according to Nintendo.

The news comes out of the latest investor’s meeting presentation. According to President Kimishima himself, Red, Green, Blue and Yellow have been downloaded over 1.5 million times worldwide, with more than half of those downloads coming from the American market. It’s worth noting that these figures exclude the hardware bundles that came with the games pre-installed, too.

Kimishima believes this success is down to Nintendo successfully appealing to the nostalgic memories of those who played the games back when they originally came out.

This success raises the question of whether or not we’ll see the other Game Boy Pokémon games – Gold, Silver and Crystal – make their way to the Virtual Console as well. This writer sure hopes so, but we’ll have to wait and see!
