We’ve touched on fanmade projects here at Nintendo Inquirer before, but most of the ones we’ve mentioned have revolved around physical products, like this crochet yarn Poochy and these customizable Animal Crossing villager statues. This time around we’ve discovered something a bit different – a fully animated episode of a fan-made Star Fox TV show. Watch it below, but be warned as it touches on some adult subject matters and has occasional cursing:

The project is being undertaken by self-taught animator Matthew Gafford, who is evidently a massive fan of the franchise. From the accurate depiction of the Mothership from the cancelled Star Fox 2 to the winking allusions to team Star Fox having robotic legs, there are plenty of references for fans to catch.

Personally I’m a fan of how he has absolutely nailed the video quality of a ’80s or ’90s cartoon or anime, with the fuzzy audio quality and bleeding colors iconic of the era’s VHS tapes. Even the intro has a distinctly Cowboy Bebop aesthetic, with a jazz soundtrack juxtaposed by the sci-fi setting.

If you’d like to see more from the series you can check out the creator’s Patreon here.

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
