2016 seems to be a year filled with fictional friends facing off. First we had Batman and Superman gritting their teeth at each other for over two hours, and soon we’ll see Captain America and Iron Man duke it out at an airport. However, these battles can’t compare to the next Splatoon Splatfest, which will be a face off between two Nickelodeon icons: SpongeBob Squarepants and Patrick Star.

Both North America and Europe will feature the subnautical face-off, which follows in the footsteps of similar collaborations like last years Transformers Splatfest and Japan’s Dragon Quest themed face-off.
Voting will start tomorrow, and the Splatfest itself will begin on the 23rd of April (at least in Europe). Who will you side with, the sponge or the star?
