Kirby: Planet Robobot may have just been announced less than a month ago, but with its June release date approaching new details are coming rather quickly. While we’ve already known about the RPG-esque Team Kirby Clash, another subgame has been unveiled on the game’s official Japanese website! Called Kirby 3D Challenge in Japan, this new mode has the characteristics of a puzzle game in floating 3D arenas.

Playing as Kirby, it appears your job is to defeat enemies utilizing his ability to shoot out inhaled stars. What adds the ‘challenge’ to the title is the fact every enemy defeated gives you points, with more being accumulated through sequential strings of knocked out foes. By aiming your stars carefully and with the right timing you can really rack up a high score, making this a fun looking test of ingenuity.

While there isn’t much to go off of at this time, Kirby subgames have been a proud tradition of almost every game in the series. Thanks to their separation from the main game they usually allow for some great references and cameos as well. With this newest one featuring series staples like Bronto Burt, Broom Hatter, and Grizzo; I’m excited to see what other faces might pop up in the new mode. Likewise one shot shows a set of unexplained 2D Kirbys hidden under the stage, adding a whole other potential layer to this new mode.

Make sure to look forward to Kirby: Planet Robobot coming to 3DS June 10th, alongside the new line of Kirby amiibo!
