Hyrule Warriors Legends, the Nintendo 3DS port of 2014’s Wii U title Hyrule Warriors, is set to hit stores next Friday, but not all 3DS owners may find the experience particularly legendary.

According to a recent Destructoid article, running the game on a non-New Nintendo 3DS causes significant dips in frame rate, at some points dropping below 30 frames per second. The game also features no option for 3D when playing on an older model.

“[The performance] is really, really bad,” writes Chris Carter. “It was so poor, I didn’t even want to play through the first stage.”

His opinion was shared by Nintendo Inquirer’s very own editor-in-chief Jason Ganos, who owns a Japanese copy of the game.

“It’s honestly terrible,” said Ganos. “The slow down [on older 3DSes] is completely unacceptable and the game seems to be in slow motion in so many parts. It stinks.”

Meanwhile, playing Hyrule Warriors Legends on a New Nintendo 3DS will provide players with optimal framerates– as long as 3D isn’t left on.

“3D on the New 3DS is terrible, too,” said Ganos. “Slowdown is apparent immediately.”

For those looking forward to an enjoyable gameplay experience on their original Nintendo 3DS, 3DS XL, or 2DS, be warned: You will likely find yourself disappointed.

Hyrule Warriors Legends will be released in North America and Europe on March 25th, 2016.
