While today’s Direct had a lot to be excited about, one announcement in particular had me extra excited. As a compilation of the series as a whole, Rhythm Heaven Megamix will be bringing the music-based fun of the franchise to the 3DS!

RhythmHeaven-Megamix

Released in Japan as Rhythm Tengoku the Best Plus, Rhythm Heaven Megamix will bring the likes of the Glee Club Chorus Kids from the DS and the Ringside Wrestler from the Wii into one game. For longtime fans of the addictive series, this will also be the first time some of the games from the Game Boy Advance original will be available overseas, as the game was never localized.

It’s not all a retread though, as alongside the 70 revisited games on the cartridge we’ll see 30 brand new games. All in all, it’s going to be at least 100 games to enjoy and master within, making for a fantastic bargain of catchy songs, tricky gameplay and delightful visuals. While not a lot of detail was given the series has a great history of quality and quirkiness, making this a game worth keeping an eye on for veterans and first timers alike. Rhythm Heaven Megamix will be out on 3DS later this year, and you can bet I’ll be playing it from day one!

When he isn’t writing for Nintendo Wire, Ricky’s anticipating the next Kirby, Fire Emblem, or if the stars ever align, Mother 3 to be released. Till then he’ll have the warm comfort of Super Smash Bros. to keep him going.
