The Pokémon Direct has come and gone, and as we were greeted by Ishihara, the president of The Pokémon Company, he introduced us to a video that celebrated the the past 20 years that the series has seen.

In an emotional summary of the all that the franchise has been, we get to see a diverse amount of Pokémon players from around the world, and how they played the games, from the original Red and Green to the latest Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

And then, as an announcer’s strong voice filled our ears, Pokémon’s history was relayed back to us, with the conclusion we’ve all been suspecting: in 2016, Pokémon Sun and Moon are headed our way.

“And, in 2016, it all comes together in an all new Pokémon adventure; Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon!”

The announcement came without much more than a few quick shots of concept art, and confirmation that the game will be for the 3DS. No official release date has been given, but the video states that we can expect the game during the holiday season this year. Pokémon Sun and Moon will also be available in nine different languages.
