A new trailer for the upcoming re-release of Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow Versions has been released on Nintendo’s official UK YouTube channel.

The trailer is given the same treatment as any trailer for a new Pokémon game. It’s bright, colorful and extremely modern looking, with allusions to the series’ 8-bit origins that make it feel new and familiar all at the same time. If I didn’t know any better, I’d think that the games are new ones made in the old style.

Upon starting the trailer, you’ll be greeted with the with the familiar fanfare opening of the original games, and an extremely familiar scene involving Gengar and Nidorino. You’ll then see a variety of scenes and screenshots from both Red and Blue Version, as well as the more colorful Yellow Version. The trailer finishes off with some legendary battles that you’ll surely recognize, and then shows the special edition 2DS handhelds that Japan and Europe will be getting.

Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow Versions are being released on the 3DS virtual console on February 27th for the 20th anniversary of Pokémon, for $9.99 each. Old and new fans of the series are sure to enjoy replaying this classic adventure, so make sure to download your favorite version on release day! Which one do you plan on playing?
