If you’ve been tuned into Twitter, particularly the now closed Nintendo World Store’s Twitter account, then you’ll know that the store is preparing for its reopening in just three days! February 19th, the Nintendo World Store will open its doors again as Nintendo NY, with just a month of renovation under its belt. Quite a short period of time to renovate, if you think about it! Despite that, this new store promises to bring something totally different to Nintendo fans that isn’t like the old store, and people everywhere (mainly in New York, though) are starting to get excited.

While Mario has been touring the city of New York during his time off, the people behind the renovations have been hard at work planning what the first days of the store’s reopening will have for visitors. Nintendo NY will open at 12:00 p.m. EST on February 19th, and the ceremonies will kick off with a special ribbon-cutting that will officially reopen the store to the public.

Inside, you’ll undoubtedly find new merchandise, though Nintendo has kept its lips sealed about a lot of what’s going to be available. However, just earlier today via a tweet from Nintendo NY’s official Twitter account, the store did confirm that, naturally, there will be commemorative, limited edition tees celebrating the opening of the new store. The shirts will feature either Mario or Link with gold emblems emblazoned on the front of them. And, with the purchase of one of these shirts comes a special, commemorative coin featuring the same character as the shirt you buy! There’s no word yet on the other types of merchandise that will be offered, but it’s all bound to be good. If you’re going, make sure you’ve got your wallet!

If you’re in the mood for something a little more interactive, a very special guest will be visiting the store for its opening as well: Charles Martinet! Yes, the voice of Mario (and Luigi, Wario, and Waluigi) will be at the grand opening of the store to meet fans and sign autographs. Mr. Martinet is known to be incredibly gracious and fun, especially when meeting his fans, so make sure to say hi if you get the chance! There will also be lots to look at in the store; Nintendo NY has been tweeting teaser images of all the new decorations and statues that will inhabit the new store, so it might be worth bringing a camera as well.

Lastly, Amiibo News is going to be at the opening, as well! Make sure to stop by and say hello to Nintendo Inquirer’s and Amiibo News’ own Amiibo Jason and Happily Candied, also known as Jason and Lauren. They’ll be there to do some shopping, see the new store, and meet you guys! While not officially affiliated with the store, they’ll be happy to say hi.

Stay tuned for more information about the new store! I can say from personal experience of living so close to it that Nintendo World was amazing, so this new Nintendo NY is definitely going to be something awesome. If you don’t live in the area, definitely try to make it sometime. And if you do live in the area, we hope you’ll be there and enjoy yourself!
