The highly anticipated Shovel Knight amiibo was released today in Europe (not including the U.K.) and will give buyers a bang for their buck. Alongside with the amiibo release in Europe, fans also received a “big amiibo update” for their 3DS and/or Wii U copies of the game.

The 2.1 amiibo update gives players the ability scan in their new and shiny Shovel Knight amiibo. The update introduces co-op play for the Wii U and five new challenges for both consoles. Some other notable details about the update include a few minor bug fixes, the ability to swap the confirm and back buttons, and quite a few other small fixes to the game overall.

Yacht Club Games was also nice enough to release an instruction guide that outlines everything you might need to know about your new Shovel Knight amiibo. From scanning the amiibo in to activating co-op mode on the Wii U, Yacht Club Games has got you covered. The instruction guide is pretty extensive; you’ll find that it includes fun facts, including some secret tips on how to play co-op with a friend.

The highly popular indie title is available for purchase now in stores and in the Nintendo eShop. North American fans can get their hands on the 2.1 patch update and amiibo on January 8th.
