The widely popular and successful indie game, Shovel Knight, has shown that Nintendo is all in on indie games. When it was announced earlier this year that the game would receive the amiibo treatment, many fans began to speculate that he was a sure lock for Smash. Unfortunately, the amiibo isn’t apart of the Smash line, but it will instead support the Wii U and 3DS versions of the game.

The Shovel Knight amiibo, which is set to release sometime this upcoming holiday, was accidentally put on shelves early in some European retailers. A store in Belgium named Media Markt is where fans were able to get their hands on him early. The image below surfaced on Twitter via @martian_profile not too long ago, and it showcases the amiibo in all its glory.

The Shovel Knight amiibo will exclusively bring two-player co-op to the Wii U version of the game and will provide “customizable gear” and “exclusive challenge stages” to 3DS and Wii U games.

This highly anticipated amiibo has yet to receive an official release date here in North America, but we can expect to get one sometime soon.
