Today’s Nintendo Direct confirmed that Splatoon will continue to see substantial free content updates for the foreseeable future. A patch for the game, which will go live tonight at 5:00 p.m. PST. It will lay the groundwork for a slew of new content through January of 2016. Here’s what we can expect to see immediately and in the near future:

Two new maps

    Museum d’Alfonsino

This new map features multiple spinning platforms and aquatic, artistic displays. This map will debut tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. PST.

    Mahi Mahi Resort

This sunny, seaside resort has a tidal twist. Halfway through the match, the water level falls to reveal more turf and complicates the last minute war for turf. This map is coming soon!

As a part of tonight’s update, we can also expect to see 40 new pieces of gear including winter-themed items and bandanas.

Nintendo also announced a Nintendo Treehouse Splatoon tournament. This Splatournament, coming next month, will be featured on Nintendo’s Twitch and YouTube channels and will feature teams made up of Nintendo Treehouse staff. Details will also be given on how to set up user tournaments both locally and online.
