Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash amiibo support detailed in new video

Update: Nintendo has released the official list of amiibo supported in Ultra Smash. See the press release below for details:

amiibo Compatibility: Players can choose supported amiibo figures to be partners in online doubles matches, or players can enlist them to battle strong computer-controlled opponents in the offline Knockout Challenge mode. The more matches an amiibo plays, the more experience and skill it will gain. Currently available compatible amiibo include Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Yoshi, Yarn Yoshis, Rosalina, Wario, Toad and Donkey Kong.

The official U.K. Wii U YouTube channel has uploaded an all new trailer outlining some of the features in the upcoming game Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, including how amiibo will function in game.

Tapping an amiibo into game will allow the player to bring that character to life and play alongside them both locally and online. Much like Super Smash Bros., playing with an amiibo will train it in a way that will boost its stats and make it a more formidable opponent.

Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash will release on November 20th in the U.S. and U.K. and can be pre-ordered on Amazon now.
