Over the past few days, the internet has been abuzz with rumors of a Twilight Princess remake. It all started when Twitter user and well known data miner @NWPlayer123 (who was also responsible for discovering a massive stockpile of Splatoon information earlier this year) posted a screenshot of a Twilight Princess icon that had been discovered while mining for data on the Wii U eShop. The Title ID attached to the icon was “THE LEGEND OF ZELDA Twilight Princess HD.”

Zelda-TwilightPrincess2

While this may be evidence enough for Zelda fans to begin celebrating, the folks over at WiiBrew discovered a listing for the game on Nintendo’s Japanese update server, essentially confirming the existence of the title.

Twilight Princess was originally released in Fall 2006. Originally slated for release on the GameCube in 2005, the game was delayed and eventually moved to the Wii where it was released as a launch title. Could Zelda U be making the jump to the NX and Nintendo be using the launch of Twilight Princess HD as a way to hold fans over? Considering the history, it’s a possibility.

Stay tuned to Nintendo Inquirer for updates on this developing story!
